I graduated in fine art painting from Sheffield College of Art & Design, and began my career teaching in London, eventually returning to live and work in Sheffield. I paint in a range of media but particularly enjoy oils, watercolours, and mixed media depending on the location and circumstances.
I lived for 18 years on Anglesey, sailing with Ian on our 25’ yacht Blanche, an old Westerly Windrush, which became our temporary home for weeks at a time, as we circumnavigated Anglesey, then visited Cardigan bay, Isle of Man, Ireland and Scotland, eventually leaving the boat there so we could visit the Hebrides more easily. Naturally I took art materials.
This proved a really exciting challenge given the varied sea conditions and time constraints that are part of cruising. It enabled me to produce a body of work capturing the immediacy of our coastal travels, and the subtlety of form and colour change, developing these into structurally richer oil paintings.
Over the years I have exhibited and retailed through various outlets in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire, Midlands and Anglesey.
